Optoma PK301 Pocket Projector – An Expert Review with the user in mind.

The Optoma PK301 Pico Pocket Projector is a tiny handheld projector. It is designed for viewing videos, photos, graphics and slide shows anywhere you go. You can bust it out, turn it on and you’re ready for the show. With nothing more needed than your iPhone or other handheld device you’ve got a pocket-sized entertainment center. Here is an expert review of this compact projector.

Features Of The PK 301

  • Small and powerful. The PK301 is one of the smallest mini-projectors you can buy and it’s easy to take anywhere with you.
  • Can project up to a 120-inch screen. This is huge for its size. It offers a great viewing experience that everybody can enjoy.
  • Easy to connect to a variety of devices. You can connect to your PC, mobile device, smartphone and just about anything else.
  • SD card slot that you can use to expand the memory up to 32 GB. You can save data and replay it any time you want to.
  • LED light that lasts up to 20,000 hours so that you don’t have to change it. It’s also more environmentally friendly because you don’t need to throw it away.

What’s Great About The Optoma PK301

Optoma PK301 Pico Pocket ProjectorThe best advantage that the PK301 has is its size. It’s simply “tiny”. It actually fits in the palm of your hand. It’s easy to carry in a breast pocket or a small pocket in your bag.  This makes it easy to take with you and you can turn anywhere you go into a movie theater.

It’s also very versatile. You can use it for movies or other videos, showing photographs, doing slideshows or Power Point presentations. Everything you need is in this one device. It also has lots of different ports so you can connect it directly with different kind of devices.

Compared to other mini-projectors, the resolution and power of the PK301 is excellent.  It uses Native WVGA, which gets it a resolution of 854 x 480. That’s better than regular TV resolution and it’s better than most of the other projectors in the market too. This resolution holds up well even when projected over a good distance.

What’s really convenient about it is that you can save the data you want on an SD card.  You don’t even have to connect it to a device to use it. You can load whatever you want to straight on to the SD card and use the projector by itself. This is really handy and this feature is hardly there in any other projector.

When you buy the Optoma PK301 Pico Pocket Projector, it comes with useful accessories to get you started. It has cables, a rechargeable battery and a bag that makes it easy to carry so that you don’t damage it. And everything has a 1 year warrantee.

It also comes with a remote controller that makes using it more convenient. The buttons on the projector are small (of course with that size it is a trade-off). So, it can be a little tough to control volume, fast forward and other things while you’re watching. So the remote is very handy for this except that it cannot be used to turning it on.

A Few Improvements that I think can make The Optoma PK301 Pico Pocket Projector even better

There are a couple of things that aren’t so great about the PK301. One is that the battery life is low. It’s rechargeable and that’s nice, but the battery only lasts around 1 hour and 20 minutes. That’s not even long enough to watch a feature-length movie!  However, it comes with a cable so you can always just plug it in and then you’ve got unlimited time. Still, it would be nice if the battery lasted longer.

Another downside is that it can’t show video files that are over 2,000 MB (usually all movies are less than that). If you want to watch a movie that’s bigger than that, you have to cut it up into separate files to watch it. This isn’t too annoying and doesn’t happen often, but it would be cool if this projector could handle bigger files.

The Coolest Thing About The PK301 – Movies on the ceiling!!!

One of the things I like best about the Optoma PK301 is that it lets you watch movies on the ceiling. This is the perfect way to enjoy a movie when you’re in the bed trying to catch up sleep. Most ceilings are white, so they make the perfect screen. Set it up and turn it on and you can drift off to your favorite movie!

The Optoma PK301 Pico Pocket Projector is a high quality and extremely small projector that you can use for all kinds of things – movies, pictures, slide shows or whatever else. One of its best features is the SD card for internal memory so you can keep your data there and don’t have to hook it up to a device every time. This is a high-quality and almost a perfect piece of technology.
